I’ve been meaning to make something like this for a while- I have a lot of thoughts (too many, honestly) on the games, music, anime, etc. that I consume, but haven’t had a medium to share them through other than barrages of texts to friends that definitely don’t give a shit about whatever piece of media I just obsessed over for the last 24-72 hours.
Initially I had planned to make a YouTube channel for the same purpose, but all the overhead of scripting, recording, re-recording, editing, and so on made that an unrealistic prospect. Same went for building a website from scratch- writing my own HTML and CSS would just take too long for my nonexistent attention span. A static site generator (Hugo in this case) is a perfect solution because I can just write my post in Markdown like it’s Reddit and it spits out a whole-ass web page with nice formatting and everything.
I’m also hoping that having somewhere to document and archive my projects will encourage me to actually finish more of them. First project post will probably be the electrocapacitive F1-8X build I’ve been working on for a few months.
Anyways, this is The Bonfire. It’s very plain and barren currently but I’ll be making more posts and customizing things in the near future. Right now I’m thinking I might add some red/orange highlights to represent embers, and I want to draw up a vector art bonfire logo and some kind of illustration for the main page.
